TL;DR
Senior Counsel, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI Governance (Automotive) (Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI Governance): Building global legal frameworks for connected-vehicle privacy, automotive cybersecurity, and enterprise AI governance with an accent on data protection, product counseling, and emerging regulation. Focus on designing privacy-by-default programs, translating ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE WP.29 requirements into actionable controls, and establishing responsible AI use-case and risk-review processes.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional travel are required.

Salary: $170,000–$206,250 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electrified, digitized SUVs and pickup trucks, including all-electric and range-extender powertrains.

What you will do

  • Design and implement global privacy governance, policies, procedures, and consumer privacy frameworks.
  • Advise on data protection laws, international transfers, privacy terms in commercial agreements, and connected-vehicle data operations including telematics and over-the-air updates.
  • Build the legal framework for automotive cybersecurity programs, including secure software development, vulnerability management, supply-chain contracting, audits, and incident response.
  • Translate automotive cybersecurity regulations and standards, including ISO/SAE 21434, NIST, and UNECE WP.29, into actionable requirements.
  • Develop an enterprise AI governance program covering policies, vendor and use-case reviews, risk assessments, training, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Advise senior leadership and cross-functional legal, engineering, product, information security, IT, and commercial teams.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
  • 12–15 years of relevant experience in AI, privacy, cybersecurity, and/or technology law, with a mix of law-firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience building or scaling AI, privacy, and/or cybersecurity programs from the ground up.
  • Strong knowledge of global data protection laws, cybersecurity regulatory frameworks, and emerging AI regulations.
  • Experience advising on product counseling in a technology-driven environment.
  • Ability to work in the Charlotte corporate headquarters 4–5 days per week and attend in-person meetings and events.

Nice to have

  • Experience in automotive, mobility, IoT, or connected-device industries.
  • Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE WP.29.
  • Experience with AI/ML governance frameworks and emerging regulation.
  • CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, or similar certification.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
