Cylinder Head Technician (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Pontiac, Michigan, United States; full-time presence at a specific location is required.

What you will do

• Machine high-performance, prototype, and racing engine components to exact specifications.
• Develop and modify cylinder-head ports and combustion chambers to meet performance and engineering requirements.
• Program and operate CNC Newen single-point equipment and perform engine-related machining operations.
• Set up Serdi cutters, flow benches, measuring tools, and equipment for valve-seat, cylinder-head, intake, exhaust, and restrictor work.
• Perform preventative and routine machine maintenance, track service records, and maintain environmental and housekeeping standards.
• Record and analyze collected data while collaborating with different organizational levels.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in high-performance, racing, and prototype machining operations.
• Experience porting cylinder heads, developing new raw castings, installing seats and guides, honing valve guides, and grinding valves.
• Ability to perform multi-angle valve-seat machining, inspect cylinder heads, check valve springs, and work with CNC porting and chamber equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, torque wrenches, and other engine-build and machine-shop tools.
• Ability to perform physical duties involving standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pulling on machining-process wrenches.
• Must be able to work onsite in Pontiac, Michigan, including alternative shifts and weekends. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in high-performance, racing, and prototype machining operations.
• 3+ years of experience porting heads and developing new raw castings.
