Senior Product Manager, Instrument and Software Automation

Location: Onsite at MSD Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, USA; occasional travel of up to 20% may be required.

Salary: $116,600–$177,800 annual base salary, plus potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Define and execute product line strategy, roadmaps, business cases, and portfolio expansion plans.
• Research customer needs and market trends across pharma, biotech, and academic customer segments.
• Develop product requirements, specifications, positioning, pricing, and performance metrics with R&D.
• Lead product launches, commercialization, forecasting, supply continuity, and lifecycle transitions.
• Analyze competitors and product KPIs to identify growth opportunities and improve market positioning.
• Collaborate with Instrument and Software Engineering, Quality, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Scientific Support, and Finance while mentoring Product Managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in life science, marketing, communications, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least seven years of product management experience.
• Proven success managing and marketing life science products across their full lifecycle and multiple customer segments.
• Understanding of immunoassays, proteomics platforms, analytical instruments, laboratory software systems, and hardware-software integration.
• Strong organizational, communication, critical-thinking, financial-modeling, market-research, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to work onsite at MSD Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, and travel occasionally.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree.
• Knowledge of optical systems, detection technologies, robotics, fluidics, embedded systems, and UI/UX design principles.
