FPGA Development Engineer (Senior Level)

Location: East Hartford, Connecticut, USA; onsite, hybrid, or fully remote options are available, and U.S. Citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end FPGA development for embedded aerospace and defense systems from concept through integration.
• Capture device-level requirements and translate them into conceptual and detailed FPGA designs.
• Define hardware–FPGA and software–FPGA interfaces.
• Ensure compliance with DO-254 and AC 20-152A objectives, supporting audits, reviews, verification, and certification data packages.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams while communicating technical status.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct formal design reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in FPGA, programmable logic, digital hardware, or embedded systems development.
• Experience with embedded hardware architectures, safety-critical hardware development, systems engineering processes, and COTS IP analysis.
• Strong knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause investigation, communication, and technical leadership skills.
• U.S. Citizenship is required; dual citizenship must be disclosed. Ability to travel for up to approximately four weeks per year is also required.
