Senior Hardware Engineer (Defense)

Location: Remote within Massachusetts, USA; US Citizenship required

Salary: $94,900–$130,000 per year plus bonus

What you will do

• Design and develop 3U and 6U VPX single-board computers, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards for high-speed data processing.
• Develop custom form-factor systems with power supplies, thermal management, and Liquid-Flow-Through methods.
• Translate system requirements into hardware designs while balancing performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Perform hardware analysis, troubleshooting, technical evaluations, verification, and qualification testing.
• Support production activities by creating test plans, resolving technical issues, and maintaining design documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, test, and operations teams while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in DoD embedded systems and hardware design.
• Experience with mixed-signal, high-speed digital, analog, low-power, and high-current circuits in high-reliability environments.
• Experience with HDI multilayer PCB designs, including blind and buried vias and uVia structures.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, solve complex hardware problems, and communicate across multidisciplinary teams.
• US Citizenship is required; an active DoD security clearance is preferred. Additional screening may apply for access to export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens Expedition DX Designer and Siemens Expedition PCB tools.
• Active DoD security clearance.
