TL;DR
FPGA Development Engineer (Mid level) (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog): Developing and integrating safety-critical FPGA systems for airborne aerospace and defense applications with an accent on real-time embedded architectures, hardware/software interfaces, and DO-254 compliance. Focus on implementing traceable hardware designs, supporting certification and verification, and solving complex integration and root-cause issues.

Location: East Hartford, Connecticut, USA; onsite, hybrid, or fully remote within the United States.

What you will do

  • Perform end-to-end FPGA development for embedded aerospace and defense systems, from concept through integration.
  • Lead requirements, design, implementation, and development activities for safety-critical airborne systems.
  • Maintain hardware–FPGA and software–FPGA interfaces.
  • Ensure FPGA development artifacts comply with DO-254 and AC 20-152A objectives.
  • Maintain accurate device-level implementation and requirements traceability.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, verification, and certification teams, communicate technical status, and support junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering, science, or technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in FPGA, programmable logic, digital hardware, or embedded systems development.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded hardware architectures and development processes.
  • Experience with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or similar hardware design languages, plus Python or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required; dual citizenship must be disclosed. Ability to travel for up to approximately two weeks per year is also required.
