Flight Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Hybrid at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, or remote within the United States. Travel: 10% for remote employees.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded flight software for small satellite bus systems.
• Execute tasking from the satellite Assembly, Integration, and Test lead.
• Coordinate with flight software engineers and spacecraft subsystem teams.
• Implement code quality, maintainability, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Develop and maintain interface specifications, user guides, and other technical documentation.
• Participate in unit testing, code reviews, and system validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing embedded or flight software in C or C++.
• Experience with satellite bus or payload software, spacecraft subsystems and interfaces, and real-time operating systems.
• Experience with hardware/software integration or low-level driver development, plus scripting in Python, Perl, or a similar language.
• U.S. citizenship and an active or obtainable DoD Secret clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with VxWorks, RTEMS, or other embedded real-time systems.
• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
