Project Director (Health)

Location: Port Sudan, Sudan. The position is open to expatriates.

What you will do

• Provide strategic, technical, managerial, and fiduciary leadership for a World Bank-funded health and nutrition project.
• Lead delivery against the project development objective, results framework, annual workplan, and budget.
• Represent the IRC with the Ministry of Health Project Management Unit, World Bank task team, UN agencies, donors, and implementing partners.
• Oversee progress reporting, project governance presentations, adaptive management, restructuring proposals, component reallocations, and workplan revisions.
• Ensure compliance with World Bank procurement, financial management, environmental and social, and anti-corruption requirements.
• Manage the senior project team and maintain relationships with health authorities, civil society, and national health coordination forums.

Requirements

• Medical degree or advanced degree in public health, health policy, or health systems management; a master's degree or doctorate is preferred.
• At least 12 years of progressive international health experience, including 7 years in senior leadership or management roles in fragile, conflict-affected, or violence-affected contexts.
• Essential experience implementing World Bank Investment Project Financing projects.
• Experience with World Bank Procurement Regulations, financial management, Environmental and Social Framework requirements, and anti-corruption guidelines.
• Experience managing complex health programmes valued at US$15 million or more, with on-time and on-budget delivery.
• English is required; fluency in Arabic is preferred.
