Revenue Accounting Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Own the monthly revenue close for enterprise committed usage, self-serve consumption, payments-stack activity, and direct entries.
• Manage contract liabilities and deferred revenue by customer and contract, tying schedules to the general ledger and source data.
• Apply ASC 606 policies covering material rights, breakage, standalone selling price allocation, variable consideration, contract modifications, and gross-versus-net conclusions.
• Explain monthly and quarterly revenue and deferred-revenue movements to executives, the board, Deal Desk, and Customer Success.
• Manage and develop the revenue accountant while maintaining preparer-reviewer segregation of duties and management review controls.
• Lead usage-to-billing-to-GL reconciliations, audit requests, revenue controls, and the revenue workstream for the billing and revenue platform migration.

Requirements

• Seven or more years in accounting, primarily revenue accounting, including ownership of a monthly or quarterly close and review of another accountant’s work.
• Hands-on ASC 606 experience with consumption or drawdown models, prepaid commitments, credits, overage, and renewal balances.
• Strong knowledge of material rights, breakage and forfeiture estimation, standalone selling price allocation, variable consideration, contract modifications, contract liabilities, and gross-versus-net assessment.
• Ability to perform data analysis independently using SQL, Python, or a transparent spreadsheet methodology, including reconciliation tolerances and unmatched residuals.
• Experience with a billing and revenue platform such as Ordway, Zuora, Maxio, RevPro, NetSuite ARM, or Rillet, alongside payments, CRM, and GL systems.
• Clear written communication, high integrity, high ownership, and low ego; active CPA is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing for or running a company’s first external audit, specifically for revenue accounts.
• Experience establishing revenue controls, RACM, ICFR, or SOX revenue cycles.
• Billing and revenue platform implementation or migration experience.
• Enterprise and self-serve revenue experience, AI infrastructure or API-metered revenue experience, and multi-entity or international revenue exposure.
• Experience building a breakage or forfeiture estimate from scratch, including historical data sourcing.
