Accounting Manager

Location: Hybrid, onsite 4 days per week in San Francisco, CA, United States

Salary: $133K–$160K annually plus equity

What you will do

• Own accounting operations and reporting, including the general ledger, AP/AR, close, accuracy, timeliness, and US GAAP compliance.
• Run the month-end close and continuously shorten and automate it.
• Manage a Senior Accountant and an outsourced accounting team while transitioning accounting work in-house.
• Prepare for and support external audits through documentation, technical accounting memos, and internal controls.
• Maintain technical accounting policies covering ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting.
• Evaluate and optimize accounting systems and workflows, partner cross-functionally, use AI where it creates impact, and investigate financial variances and anomalies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting.
• Experience evaluating, implementing, or redesigning accounting workflows and tools, with a preference for automation over manual work.
• Technology fluency and interest in applying automation and AI to accounting.
• Operational ownership mindset, including pragmatic problem-solving, autonomy, adaptability, and fast learning in a startup environment.
• Ability to manage accounting staff and collaborate effectively across the organization.
• Ideally, combined Big 4 audit and startup experience.

Nice to have

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Experience implementing or migrating to a new ERP system.
• Experience with PLG and/or enterprise SaaS revenue models.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Rillet, Campfire, Ramp, Carta, Orb, and Claude Code.
• Experience with auditing.
