Building Automation Technician (IoT/HVAC)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, with designated in-office days each month under the BrainBox AI Workplace Presence model.

Annual base salary: CAD 66,300–94,850.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, remotely implement, and commission control programs for IoT devices, HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, and building automation systems.
• Troubleshoot control systems and IoT devices, maintain client systems, and support system updates.
• Collaborate with development and algorithm teams to integrate control systems, IoT devices, and deployment models.
• Perform analytical QA/QC testing for product validation, stability, and releases.
• Improve test documentation, knowledge-base processes, troubleshooting efficiency, SLAs, and shift-left support practices.
• Communicate with clients about technical issues and service requests, including after-hours coverage when required.

Requirements

• Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or building-environment engineering technology, or equivalent trade or field experience.
• 3–5 years of experience with building automation and HVAC control systems, preferably in an IoT environment.
• Experience with BMS software, programming, hardware, commissioning, and protocols including BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or DIII-net.
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux, scripting, IT networking, cloud platforms, building operations, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
• Hands-on experience with electronics, testing equipment, circuitry, control panels, wiring, terminations, and tools; familiarity with Python, MQTT, REST APIs, and Node-RED.
• French-English bilingualism is required, including full professional proficiency in English.
