Optical Engineer, Senior (Optical Systems)

Location: Montreal, Canada

Salary: CAD 90,960–136,440 annually, plus a performance-based annual cash incentive targeted at 10% of base pay.

What you will do

• Contribute to all phases of optical product development, including concept generation, design, testing, and implementation.
• Develop advanced models for key optical technologies and perform system analysis on current and prototype designs.
• Analyze highly technical problems, determine root causes, and develop corrective solutions.
• Create engineering documentation for optical instrument designs and support testing of new and existing designs.
• Innovate optical technologies and provide technical leadership for optical planning and program management.
• Support the manufacturing of optical instruments and products and provide multidisciplinary production support.

Requirements

• Four-year bachelor's degree in Optical Science and Engineering, Physics Engineering, or Physics from an accredited Canadian institution or comparable foreign university.
• More than 6 years of experience in optical design and testing.
• Experience operating CMOS and CCD image sensors is strongly preferred.
• Strong programming skills in C and Python, with experience in Linux, MATLAB, and Zemax simulators.
• Practical knowledge of camera design and 3D CAD software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
