Automation Engineer (PLC)

Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work mode. Availability to travel to the United States is required.

Expected compensation: CAD 50,000–115,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs for custom water technology systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and participate in client meetings to align technical requirements and deliverables.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, I/O lists, and network architectures.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, project scope, budgets, and timelines.
• Troubleshoot control systems and support network design and commissioning remotely and on-site.
• Maintain standardized process-control documentation and automation best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or related Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• More than 5 years of experience as an Automation or PLC Engineer.
• Professional experience with Rockwell or Schneider PLC systems.
• Strong knowledge of control systems, network design, and VFDs.
• Personally designed panel schematics, single-line diagrams, I/O lists, and loop drawings.
• Availability to travel to the US; Canadian work experience is not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens or Emerson automation platforms.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Canada.
