Focus on diagnosing hardware failures in the field, interpreting flight logs, documenting test results, and coordinating technical feedback with engineering teams in Germany.
Location: Stockholm and Norway (Flight Test Site), with close ties to the Munich, Germany area headquarters.

What you will do
- Serve as the on-site technical expert for Virtus UAV platforms during Nordic flight tests.
- Assemble, integrate, diagnose, repair, and replace UAV components including flight controllers, ESCs, brushless motors, batteries, and heating elements.
- Configure and troubleshoot anti-icing systems, cold-weather modifications, CAN bus, PWM signals, and power distribution systems.
- Prepare tools, equipment, batteries, airframes, cables, and ground-support systems for missions and pre-flight checks.
- Support airspace and site-safety procedures, including range clearance, observer duties, and SORA/EASA requirements.
- Organize test requests, maintain test logs, analyze flight data, and provide documented feedback to engineering teams and suppliers in Germany.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building, tuning, repairing, and troubleshooting UAVs such as FPV quadcopters or custom fixed-wing drones.
- Strong familiarity with ArduPilot and/or PX4 flight stacks.
- Knowledge of UAV hardware architecture, including flight controllers, ESCs, brushless motors, lithium batteries, CAN bus, and PWM.
- Experience with flight-control software and ground stations, including Mission Planner and/or QGroundControl.
- Soldering skills and the ability to repair or modify electronics in field conditions.
- Comfort working outdoors in cold, harsh Norwegian environments and supporting on-site flight-test operations.
Nice to have
- RC piloting experience with multirotor and/or fixed-wing aircraft.
- Previous flight-test engineering experience, including test cards, data analysis, and test planning.
- Experience with extreme cold-weather operations, anti-icing systems, or thermal management in electronics.
- Background in defense, robotics, or aerospace testing.
