Integration AMO Physicist - 935 (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, United States. Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status. Candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Salary: $132,000–$165,000 annually.

What you will do

• Integrate and validate quantum computer hardware assemblies with physicists and engineers.
• Design and execute validation test plans for high-fidelity ion-trap qubit systems.
• Act as a subject matter expert on device and qubit physics and subsystem requirements.
• Contribute to the design and requirements of future quantum computer integration systems.
• Lead small technical projects, collaborate with external partners, and communicate scientific results through publications and presentations.

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor's degree.
• At least 4 years of physicist experience in research and development or in integrating and validating complex technical hardware.
• Experience with laboratory testing, measurement, and complex scientific apparatuses.
• Expertise in a specialized Atomic and Molecular Optics domain.
• U.S. Person status is required due to contractual requirements.
• National-security restrictions apply to nationals of China and Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• PhD or advanced experience in physics, applied physics, mathematics, chemistry, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with quantum computing hardware and ultra-high-vacuum, RF, microwave, electronic, laser, optical, and cryogenic subsystems.
• Experience maintaining custom software codebases using version control and Git.
• Experience leading technical workstreams or small projects.
• Strong analytical, computational, and technical communication skills.
