Claims Appraiser - Auto Estimatics (Auto Insurance)

Location: Remote-Field position based in Suffolk County, New York; candidates should reside within a commutable distance of the territory. Work includes virtual estimates from home and in-person appointments with body shops and customers using a mobile office/vehicle. Occasional work outside the assigned territory, flexible shifts, overtime, and irregular hours may be required.

Salary: $78,862.06–$102,500 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Collect vehicle information from repair shops or customers and prepare initial and supplemental repair estimates from photos or in-person inspections.
• Use automated estimating systems to evaluate vehicle damage, repairability, causation, and market value.
• Provide technical support to claim handlers regarding vehicle repair issues and assess bid content and photo documentation.
• Serve as a point of contact for insureds, explain coverage, and guide customers through the claims process.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls with customers and repair shops while addressing concerns professionally.
• Interact with customers and other parties who may express strong emotions about inspections or claim resolutions.

Requirements

• Experience in auto collision repair, auto damage estimating, and/or auto insurance appraisal.
• Excellent customer service, critical thinking, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask across technical platforms and demonstrate accountability and resourcefulness.
• Physical agility for stooping, bending, and some lifting when evaluating vehicle damage and creating estimates.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Successful completion of required training, proficiency and licensing examinations, Motor Vehicle Record checks, background checks, and applicable pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser License.
• Knowledge of CCC One and/or Mitchell.
• I-CAR Platinum Certification.
