TL;DR
Accident Reconstructionist (B.S., M.S. Level, PE) (57560) (Forensic Engineering): Investigating and reconstructing passenger and commercial vehicle collisions through engineering principles, physical and electronic evidence analysis, 3D scanning, and EDR/ADAS data with an accent on scientifically supported findings and litigation-ready technical reporting. Focus on analyzing complex collision evidence, conducting simulations and inspections, and presenting expert opinions in depositions and trials.

Location: Penns Park, Pennsylvania, United States; frequent travel for inspections, including occasional overnight travel. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Investigate and reconstruct passenger and commercial vehicle collisions involving vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, electric scooters, and motorcycles.
  • Inspect vehicles, sites, and physical evidence using 3D scanning technology and related software, while conducting tests and collecting data.
  • Download and analyze event data recorder and advanced driver-assistance systems data.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, technical papers, and educational materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Evaluate cases and claims in a litigation environment and participate in depositions and trials as an expert witness.
  • Manage multiple cases and deadlines while continuing to develop technical knowledge through education and publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer license required; ACTAR certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid driver’s license, compliance with ATS driving record standards, and willingness to travel frequently for inspections.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status.

Nice to have

  • Experience in accident reconstruction or forensic investigations.
  • Mechanical or automotive experience or a strong interest in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with SCENE, PC-Crash, Virtual CRASH, HVE, AutoCAD, PhotoModeler, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of event data recorders, vehicle electronics, and ADAS.
  • Experience with computer simulation programs used to evaluate incidents.
