Senior Software Engineer (Data) - Data Foundations

Location: Hamburg or Berlin, Germany

Salary: €70,000–€85,000 yearly

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and transition to a new data platform based on Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and Google BigQuery.
• Develop tooling for monitoring, data checks, connectors, cost control, testing, CI/CD, and data cataloging.
• Maintain and optimize the company’s largest and most fundamental ELT pipelines.
• Move terabytes of data nightly from MySQL in AWS to BigQuery, including daytime synchronization that avoids impacting source-system performance.
• Own critical reports used for executive board decisions and by data teams across other departments.

Requirements

• Substantial hands-on experience in data engineering and software engineering, especially with high-volume, business-critical pipelines.
• Experience building and maintaining modern data platforms that enable other engineering teams.
• Deep practical experience with Dagster, dbt, Google BigQuery, and AWS ECS.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including CI/CD, testing, design patterns, Docker, and Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Expert-level SQL and Python skills.
• Business-fluent English and strong communication skills are required.
