Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Berlin, Germany. International relocation support is provided if required, and working from abroad is possible.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain a scalable, cloud-based data platform for a data-driven financial services business.
• Design AWS data processing solutions that ingest information from internal backend services and third-party sources.
• Extend the lakehouse to support regulatory reporting, analytics, and decision-making across the company.
• Prepare and clean structured and unstructured data and build data models for reporting, advanced analytics, and AI use cases.
• Design testing and monitoring components to ensure data pipeline accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with data, product, and engineering teams to deliver data-enabled product features and share engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience in data engineering and a degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating AWS data pipelines using services such as S3, Athena, DMS, and Glue.
• Advanced SQL skills, including window functions, and strong programming skills in Python.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud networking and security, including IAM, VPC, and Security Groups.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform, and preferably Airflow or PySpark.
• Fluent English communication and presentation skills, alongside strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark Streaming.
• Interest in financial services and markets.
