AI-First Data Engineer (m/f/d)

What you will do

• Build and optimize cloud-native data pipelines and supporting infrastructure on AWS using ETL/ELT, Aurora, Redshift, dbt, Spark/EMR, Airflow, and CDC.
• Design and evolve data models for analytics, operational use cases, and AI/ML across thousands of studios.
• Improve data reliability through governance, testing, and lineage so data can be trusted by people and AI systems.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous business problems into robust data solutions.
• Evaluate data mesh patterns and emerging AI tooling, using AI tools while reviewing and validating their output.
• Grow into financial and regulatory reporting, with a focus on correctness and auditability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data engineering experience focused on data warehousing.
• Strong SQL and Python skills for data work.
• Hands-on experience with dbt on a cloud warehouse.
• Understanding of data architecture and modeling principles, including dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, and incremental patterns.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and exposure to non-relational databases such as DynamoDB and MongoDB.
• Excellent written and verbal English; the role is remote within Germany.

Nice to have

• AWS experience with Redshift, EMR, Glue, S3, or IAM; GCP and Azure experience is also welcome.
• Experience with streaming or CDC technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Debezium, or with data mesh.
• Experience building data pipelines for ML or AI systems.
• Exposure to financial, payments, or regulated reporting data.
• German language skills for stakeholder collaboration.
