Business Banking Underwriting Manager

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States. Candidates must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require current or future work visa sponsorship.

Salary: $111,440.00–$183,082.25 per year, plus potential incentive and retention awards.

What you will do

• Manage end-to-end underwriting for business banking loan originations of $3 million or less in accordance with bank policy.
• Review complex loan structures, eligibility, financial information, creditworthiness, and institutional alignment to render loan decisions.
• Lead and manage a team of 4–10 underwriting associates, providing coaching, training, and development.
• Collaborate with underwriters, relationship managers, closers, and leadership throughout origination, approval, and closing.
• Support committee presentations, portfolio assessments, audits, compliance requests, and strategic bank initiatives.
• Identify and implement improvements to underwriting efficiency, productivity, quality, procedures, products, and portfolio analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, equivalent credit training or certifications, or relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of credit review experience, preferably underwriting conventional business banking loans.
• 3+ years of experience managing and leading a team.
• Strong experience reviewing personal and business financial statements and making independent credit decisions.
• Strong knowledge of business credit underwriting, credit and regulatory policies, analytical methods, and loan risk evaluation.
• Proficiency in Excel, PC spreadsheet tools, reporting, dashboards, and loan origination systems such as nCino.
