Commercial Underwriting Manager (Banking)

Location: Fully onsite in Pasadena, California, United States. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $130,000–$190,000 per year, with possible performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Oversee workflow management for commercial credit underwriting and loan portfolio management teams.
• Direct the timely and accurate preparation of credit authorizations, commitment letters, declinations, needs letters, and related work products.
• Review credit requests, make recommendations to Credit Administrators, and manage complex credit assignments and servicing requests.
• Monitor commercial loan portfolio quality, conduct annual credit reviews, and coordinate responses to audit exceptions.
• Manage, hire, train, coach, and develop Credit Analysts, Commercial Underwriters, and Loan Portfolio Managers.
• Coordinate with Credit Administration, Internal Asset Review, Commercial Relationship Managers, and other departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• 4–7 years of commercial underwriting, loan portfolio management, or related experience required.
• 4–7 years of supervisory or management experience required.
• Advanced experience managing commercial loan portfolios and proficient knowledge of underwriting, loan documentation, appraisal, and closing processes.
• Ability to interpret credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, financial ratios, tables, and charts.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, customer service, and relationship-management skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SBA credit and environmental policies, SBA lending and eligibility standards, and SBA documentation.
• Experience with Word, Excel, T-Soft, and Filemaker Pro.
