Senior ML Data Scientist, Health Sensing

Location: Remote - United States; candidates residing in Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not considered. Preference is given to candidates based in San Francisco, San Diego, or Boston. Offices are available in San Francisco and San Diego for hybrid or office settings.

Salary: $172,000–$203,000 for Region 1, $158,000–$187,000 for Region 2, or $147,000–$174,000 for Region 3, depending on US location and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy machine learning pipelines and models for illness detection features using wearable health data.
• Drive the commercialization of machine learning models and algorithms in partnership with scientists, product managers, software developers, product designers, and test engineers.
• Design and execute statistical analyses for model evaluation, monitoring, and product decision-making.
• Conduct exploratory research into novel health-sensing features and translate proof-of-concept ideas into scalable products.
• Prioritize high-impact opportunities and own projects from open questions through shipped capabilities.
• Monitor and improve production algorithms using large-scale member data, and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Requirements

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 3+ years of industry experience in machine learning and data science.
• 5+ years of advanced programming experience in Python and SQL.
• Extensive experience with machine learning and statistical modeling, including deep learning, time-series analysis, and signal processing.
• Experience developing and commercializing machine learning models and algorithms across their full lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently, define technical direction and roadmaps, and deliver projects with limited direction.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Domain knowledge in illness, infection, or immune response physiology.
