Staff Data Scientist (Medical Imaging)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid work

Base salary: $220,000–$280,000 annually, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Define the vision and requirements for data analysis, curation, and annotation across Product, Research, Engineering, and Process Engineering.
• Design and lead large-scale data campaigns and annotation strategies to improve AI products.
• Develop data curation strategies and partner with MLOps on data management systems for model training and validation.
• Create dashboards and monitoring reports for data and model performance.
• Build statistical frameworks and tools to evaluate model iterations across patient populations.
• Translate complex analyses into interpretable findings and drive cross-functional alignment.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of industry experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or Image Analysis, or 5+ years with a PhD.
• Experience solving complex AI problems involving medical imaging or computer vision.
• Proficiency in Python and statistical or machine learning packages, with experience writing clean, reproducible, and scalable code.
• Experience with deep learning and machine learning models in production, data lakes, SQL or NoSQL databases, AWS Cloud Storage, and Tableau dashboards.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Experience with VTK, ITK, 3DSlicer, or MITK.
• Experience with medical imaging data, especially CT and vascular imaging.
• Experience integrating generative AI and agentic tools into coding, prototyping, and data analysis workflows.
