Power Plant Technician A

Location: Onsite at Vicinity Kendall, 265 1st St, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time work on a rotating shift schedule.

Salary: $56.07–$67.42 per hour

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, and respond to normal and abnormal conditions involving gas turbines, boilers, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and auxiliary equipment.
• Read meters and gauges, collect operating data, and maintain plant records, logs, work notifications, and maintenance documentation.
• Perform water chemistry analysis, adjust chemical feeds, and operate and regenerate water treatment equipment in coordination with the water treatment vendor.
• Inspect equipment for malfunctions or repair needs and open or close valves and circuit breakers up to 480 volts for system operation and isolation.
• Follow lockout/tagout, environmental permit, regulatory, and facility safety procedures, including duties as an Authorized Employee.
• Assist with operating procedures and other plant duties when combined-cycle equipment and boilers are not operating.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Massachusetts Third Class Engineers License.
• At least 5 years of experience operating gas turbines, high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, and heat recovery steam generators.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy physical work indoors and outdoors, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and tolerate temperature extremes, high noise, high-pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty or dirty environments.
• Must qualify to wear a respirator and pass a company-provided pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.

• Knowledge of the relationship between plant operations and energy markets.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
• Good safety record.
