Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

Location: Berlin, London, or Munich office; remote work from Germany or the UK

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop a team of forward-deployed engineers.
• Plan capacity and staffing across multiple strategic enterprise deployments.
• Own engineering delivery, including milestones, dependencies, risks, escalations, and stakeholder alignment.
• Provide technical guidance on architecture and implementation, review designs and code, and unblock critical production issues.
• Create reusable field engineering patterns, playbooks, and standards to improve deployment reliability and speed.
• Partner with customer engineering teams, Product, and Core Engineering to deliver integrations and turn recurring needs into product improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, DevOps, or data engineering with meaningful production responsibility.
• Proven experience leading and developing engineers through management, team leadership, coaching, hiring, or performance development.
• Experience delivering complex technical projects in large enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders and constraints.
• Strong breadth across backend engineering, APIs, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and databases.
• Ability to own technical workstreams, debug production issues, and contribute hands-on when needed.
• Strong planning, prioritization, risk management, and customer-facing communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered systems, including agent workflows, orchestration, evaluation, vector databases, or guardrails.
• Experience in forward-deployed or solutions engineering environments.
