Technical Lead, Applications (AI)

Location: Hybrid in the United Kingdom; address in London, Greater London. Interviews may be conducted virtually or onsite.

What you will do

• Own application engineering strategy and execution across backend, mobile, and desktop.
• Lead and grow a small senior applications team.
• Define architecture for AI-powered workflows, APIs, and client integrations.
• Ensure production-grade reliability through observability, monitoring, retries, fallbacks, privacy, and cost controls.
• Partner with Machine Learning leadership to turn model capabilities into shippable product features.
• Make technical decisions balancing latency, cost, reliability, security, and user experience.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading application or product engineering for complex systems.
• Strong hands-on experience building and shipping production backend systems.
• Experience delivering AI-powered products and understanding model integration trade-offs.
• Excellent system design skills across services, APIs, clients, and data flows.
• Ability to operate across backend, mobile, and desktop platforms.
• Ability to make high-impact technical decisions under ambiguity while maintaining execution speed and engineering fundamentals.
