Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Data Center Construction and Operations

Location: Remote-friendly within the United States; staff are currently expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time, with significant travel to data center sites.

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Own EHS programs across data center construction, commissioning, and live operations.
• Build and manage contractor safety programs, including prequalification, safety-plan review, site orientation, high-hazard work permits, audits, and inspections.
• Oversee safety across multi-employer worksites and hold general contractors, subcontractors, specialty trades, and operators accountable.
• Manage hazards involving energized electrical systems, work at height, heavy equipment, cranes and rigging, excavation, fire protection, and life safety.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; identify root causes; and drive corrective actions, reporting, and OSHA record keeping.
• Develop emergency preparedness, oversee drills, manage external safety and industrial hygiene partners, and contribute to safer data center design standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of EHS experience, including significant construction, mission-critical, data center, heavy industrial, or operational project work.
• Hands-on expertise in contractor and construction safety, multi-employer worksite oversight, high-hazard permitting, and safety-plan review.
• Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards 29 CFR 1926 and general industry standards 29 CFR 1910.
• Expertise in electrical safety, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and fall protection.
• Ability to act as the safety authority on active worksites, stop unsafe work, build programs autonomously, and collaborate with contractors and cross-functional partners.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• CHST, CSP, ASP/GSP, or comparable US-recognized safety credentials.
• Experience with data center, mission-critical, or large capital construction projects and commissioning-to-operations handover.
• Experience building contractor safety programs across distributed sites.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
