Mechanical Assembly Apprentice (Engineering): Learning to assemble, inspect, test and fault-find mechanical sub-assemblies and customer-specific equipment in a Nottingham workshop with an accent on engineering drawings, tools, quality checks and safe working practices. Focus on developing practical manufacturing competence through structured coaching, apprenticeship learning and rotations across engineering, quality, service and related functions.
Location: Onsite in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
Salary: £16,770 per annum (£8.60 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week)

What you will do
- Learn to read engineering drawings, bills of materials, job packs and approved work instructions.
- Check components and materials and use authorised hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely.
- Prepare and assemble brackets, guards, frames, conveyors, mechanical sub-assemblies and customer-specific equipment.
- Complete visual, dimensional and completeness checks, record results and escalate missing or non-conforming parts.
- Support functional testing, basic fault-finding, 5S and continuous improvement within the level of competence.
- Complete apprenticeship learning, coaching, progress reviews and portfolio evidence while rotating through Warehouse, Projects, Design/Engineering, Quality/EHS and Service/Installation.
Requirements
- English and mathematics qualifications or attainment meeting the training provider’s entry requirements.
- Interest or achievement in design, engineering, technology, science, practical subjects or equivalent experience.
- Genuine interest in practical engineering, manufacturing, mechanical systems and how products are built.
- Ability to work carefully with tools and components and follow safety instructions, PPE requirements and approved working practices.
- Commitment to reliable attendance and completion of workplace and training provider learning.
