TL;DR
Data Center Technician, HVAC- 2nd Shift (Wednesday- Saturday) (HVAC): Operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying critical cooling and refrigeration systems in a mission-critical data center with an accent on chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, cooling towers, pumps, valves, compressors, and controls. Focus on diagnosing mechanical failures, coordinating vendor maintenance, validating return to service, and maintaining reliable 24x7 cooling performance.

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; on-site. Second shift: Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM.

What you will do

  • Operate, inspect, maintain, repair, and modify critical HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
  • Work with chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, in-row cooling systems, cooling towers, pumps, valves, compressors, and associated controls.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot failures, and complete corrective repairs to restore safe and stable cooling performance.
  • Support mechanical upgrades, installations, infrastructure changes, incident response, audits, and maintenance windows.
  • Coordinate vendor-performed maintenance and validate equipment return to service.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment condition, technical findings, and operational risks.

Requirements

  • HVAC certification, refrigeration certification, or an equivalent trade qualification.
  • 5+ years of experience with HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems in mission-critical, industrial, or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cooling systems, airflow, refrigeration circuits, mechanical controls, and environmental performance.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, corrective repair, mechanical troubleshooting, and incident response.
  • Knowledge of refrigerant handling requirements, environmental regulations, lockout/tagout, PPE, and mechanical safety practices.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, with accurate and disciplined reporting.
