Data Center HVAC Field Service Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Field-based at customer locations; candidates may be located anywhere in the Continental United States. The role requires 75% or more travel, typically within the United States, with occasional international travel.

Hourly base pay: $46.51–$62.83.

What you will do

• Support data center cooling infrastructure through startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational activities.
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues in air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, pumps, hydronic systems, cooling towers, and related equipment.
• Support screw and centrifugal compressor technologies and respond to equipment failures and critical service events.
• Assist customer operations teams with system performance evaluations, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Maintain accurate service records and field reports while communicating with customers, contractors, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Follow safety policies, customer site requirements, regulatory standards, and preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of HVAC industry experience, including mission-critical, large-tonnage, or complex chiller environments.
• Hands-on experience with startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, equipment checkout, sequence of operations, and performance verification.
• Strong knowledge of thermal cooling systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, pumps, hydronic systems, cooling towers, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with screw and centrifugal compressors and the ability to resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Valid driver’s license with no major or frequent traffic violations.
• Ability to travel 75% or more and meet the physical and safety requirements of field work, including ladders, rooftops, confined areas, protective equipment, and lifting.

Nice to have

• Experience with Trane, York, Carrier, Daikin, Vertiv, Liebert, Stulz, or Johnson Controls equipment.
• OEM training, factory startup experience, or field commissioning experience.
• Two-year degree, technical certification, or equivalent training in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field.
