Markel 2027 Underwriting Training Program - Northeast

Location: New York, NY; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

Salary: $34–$45 per hour with 15% bonus potential

What you will do

• Develop skills to review, analyze, accept, and decline insurance risks.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures to support profitability.
• Communicate with underwriting management, product line leaders, colleagues, data analysts, and current and prospective producers.
• Gain exposure to data analytics and digital technologies shaping the future of insurance underwriting.
• Progress toward an underwriting position after successfully completing the training program.

Requirements

• College graduation expected by June 2027.
• Minimum 3.00 GPA and strong academic performance.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, make sound recommendations, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Time management skills, initiative, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Available to start in June 2027 and authorized to work in the USA without current or future sponsorship.
