VP, Legal Counsel – Data Privacy, Digital & Technology (Data Privacy & Technology)

What you will do

• Provide specialist legal guidance on GDPR, EU/UK privacy requirements, lawful data processing, data subject rights, international transfers, and breach reporting across EMEA.
• Draft and negotiate cloud, IT, technology vendor, data protection, outsourcing, and third-party risk agreements.
• Advise on AI frameworks, including EU AI Act implications, and support the safe deployment of AI-driven tools.
• Monitor emerging EU/UK regulations covering digital services, fintech, operational resilience, cybersecurity, and data protection.
• Partner with IT, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and business teams on technology upgrades, digital transformation, operational changes, and AI roll-outs.
• Support cybersecurity incidents, regulatory notifications, client communications, remediation, and legal responses to impersonation scams.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with strong academic credentials in the UK or a relevant EMEA jurisdiction.
• At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in data protection, technology law, IT, cybersecurity, or a related field, including substantial GDPR work.
• Deep knowledge of EU/UK privacy frameworks, including GDPR, the Data Protection Act, e-Privacy, and international data transfers.
• Strong understanding of AI, cybersecurity, and technology regulations, including the EU AI Act.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, communication, and senior stakeholder presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, provide proactive business support, and collaborate within a legal team.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services or asset management.
• Prior in-house legal counsel experience.
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional regulatory implementations or cross-border projects.
