Senior Software Engineer - Android (Onsite)

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Own the architecture and implementation of complex features with a focus on reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and testability.
• Integrate Android applications with connected medical devices using Bluetooth Low Energy and other communication protocols.
• Collaborate with embedded, cloud, systems engineering, cybersecurity, quality, regulatory, product, and clinical teams.
• Develop unit, integration, automated, and system-level tests; participate in design reviews, risk analyses, and root-cause investigations.
• Support design controls, verification and validation, regulatory submissions, audits, post-market investigations, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including significant production Android experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Kotlin and the Android SDK, including Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, dependency injection, and lifecycle-aware design.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, concurrency, asynchronous programming, API design, Git workflows, code review, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing applications that communicate with external hardware or connected devices, as well as automated unit and integration testing.
• Experience diagnosing complex issues using logs, debugging tools, telemetry, and systematic root-cause analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical devices, digital health, regulated products, or safety-critical systems.
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 62366, FDA Quality System requirements, or related cybersecurity guidance.
• Experience with BLE connection management, GATT services, secure device communication, authentication, encryption, and certificate management.
• Experience with mobile performance, memory, battery optimization, intermittent connectivity, background execution, device restarts, and OS upgrades.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, cloud services, risk management, regulatory submissions, or technical leadership and mentoring.
