Subject Matter Expert (EU PPWR & Sustainable Packaging Compliance)

Location: Hybrid work from Deventer, Netherlands, with at least one day per week on-site

What you will do

• Advise brand owners, converters, and packaging manufacturers on meeting EU PPWR requirements.
• Develop compliance roadmaps, gap analyses, recyclability assessments, and reuse system designs.
• Train clients through workshops, webinars, and practical documentation.
• Translate regulatory requirements, delegated acts, and national implementations into actionable packaging guidance.
• Collaborate with regulatory experts, software engineers, sustainability consultants, and client teams to co-develop digital compliance tools.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in sustainable packaging compliance, regulatory affairs, or circular economy initiatives.
• Deep expertise in PPWR and its implications for different packaging types.
• Knowledge of sustainability metrics including recyclability, reuse, and compostability.
• Ability to turn complex regulations into practical, business-ready advice.
• Project management experience in cross-functional teams, including R&D, procurement, or sustainability functions.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.

Nice to have

• Dutch, French, or German for EU client work.
• Experience with food packaging materials, formats, or EU 10/2011 food safety standards.
• Experience with data platforms, LCA tools, traceability systems, or software co-development.
• A collaborative mindset and interest in digital tools and innovation.
