Legal Counsel

Location: Remote anywhere in the United Kingdom; candidates in London may work in a hybrid model with occasional office travel. Existing right to work in the UK required; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Lead the legal aspects of major tenders and public procurements.
• Lead negotiations and closing of large customer contracts from initial review through signature.
• Draft and negotiate SaaS, licensing, implementation, professional services, NDA, data processing, partnership, and reseller agreements.
• Advise on data protection, privacy, intellectual property, licensing, and day-to-day commercial matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Translate legal risk into actionable commercial choices for the CEO, CFO, and CPO.
• Use AI and agentic tooling in legal work and provide cover for the General Counsel when needed.

Requirements

• Law degree and current practising certificate, with qualification in the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, or another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• Several years of post-qualification legal practice experience, including private practice before moving in-house.
• Strong hands-on experience drafting and negotiating complex technology contracts, particularly SaaS agreements.
• Experience working across more than one jurisdiction and advising senior stakeholders with precision.
• Ability to manage broad commercial and advisory matters, exercise independent risk judgement, and build trust across the business.
• Must already have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Public sector procurement experience, particularly in North America.
• Experience in public transport, mobility, fare collection, payments, or regulated infrastructure.
