Private Cloud Infrastructure Specialist (VMware)

Location: Manchester or Leeds, United Kingdom; hybrid working with 40% or two days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, build, operate and continuously improve private cloud compute hosting platforms across VMware and bare-metal environments.
• Develop and operate VMware Cloud Foundation platforms and Dell hardware infrastructure.
• Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code to enable safe, repeatable changes at scale.
• Improve platform resilience, security, performance and operational excellence.
• Support production platforms with high availability and performance requirements, including backup, restore and disaster recovery.
• Provide technical guidance while collaborating with internal teams, partners, vendors, product owners and architecture teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an infrastructure or platform engineer in a private cloud environment.
• Experience with VMware vSphere or Cloud Foundation, vSAN, NSX, Aria Suite or Dell server hardware.
• Experience designing and operating platforms using automation and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with source code management, including Git or GitHub.
• Understanding of security, compliance and resilience in enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure platforms and managing Level 3/4 incidents, problems and defects.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco ACI, SAN storage, Dynatrace, Prometheus or Grafana.
• Scripting and automation experience with Bash, Python, Ansible or Terraform.
• Experience with Azure VMware Solution, legacy platform modernisation or regulated financial services environments.
• VMware certifications or experience contributing to platform standards and internal engineering communities.
