What you will do

  • Independently manage a caseload of Part 8 MOJ and OICP defendant-side motor litigation cases up to £25k.
  • Plan workloads, meet court deadlines, and maintain agreed performance and quality standards.
  • Analyse evidence and quantum to develop initial case strategies.
  • Negotiate with clients, defendants, insurers, and solicitors to achieve appropriate settlements and cost allocation.
  • Draft court documents, instruct and liaise with Counsel, and guide defendants through the litigation process.
  • Maintain accurate case, billing, reporting, and management information records while supporting team and team-leader tasks.

Requirements

  • Experience handling an own caseload of litigated claims in a defendant or claimant role is desirable.
  • Understanding of case law, litigation practice and procedure, and Court Practice Rules.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads in a process-driven environment.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including professional correspondence.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgement, tact, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office; five GCSEs at grade C/5 or equivalent, including maths and English.

Nice to have

  • Further education or experience in law.
  • File-handling experience in a law practice or insurer.
  • Understanding of the Highway Code and basic Road Traffic Act principles.
