Portfolio Manager, Specialty Finance

Location: New York, NY, USA

Salary: $265,000–$305,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Source and originate specialty finance opportunities through relationships with originators, financial institutions, sponsors, servicers, banks, and other market participants.
• Lead underwriting across private credit and asset-based finance investments, including fundamental credit analysis, collateral analysis, cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, and transaction structuring.
• Coordinate legal, tax, accounting, financing, risk, and operational diligence and negotiate transaction documentation, financing arrangements, and commercial terms.
• Construct and manage diversified portfolios across funds, separately managed accounts, and commingled vehicles while monitoring risk limits, concentration, liquidity, and macroeconomic factors.
• Monitor collateral performance, servicing activity, covenant compliance, and operating metrics, developing recommendations to improve performance and mitigate losses.
• Present investment recommendations to investment committees and senior leadership, support investor activities, and mentor junior investment professionals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in specialty finance, structured credit, private credit, asset-based lending, ABS, consumer finance, corporate credit, investment banking, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience sourcing and executing complex credit investments and managing specialty finance assets.
• Advanced financial modeling and credit analysis skills.
• Deep knowledge of structured finance, securitization, asset-based lending, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Experience evaluating complex collateral pools and servicing platforms and presenting recommendations to senior investment committees.
• Strong investment judgment, communication, presentation, collaboration, integrity, accountability, and intellectual curiosity.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer lending, equipment finance, aviation finance, insurance or reinsurance assets, commercial finance, SME lending, solar and renewable finance, digital infrastructure lending, portfolio acquisitions, music royalties, or IP-backed lending.
