Senior Manufacturing Development Engineer

Location: Shenzhen, China; office-based with approximately 15% travel within Asia

What you will do

• Lead complex problem-solving across sub-assembly and final assembly processes, defining solutions and ownership.
• Drive DfX reviews and provide design feedback focused on manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and critical-to-quality requirements.
• Direct cross-functional teams, suppliers, integrators, and contract manufacturers in developing and scaling robust manufacturing processes.
• Establish manufacturing strategies covering equipment selection, automation, process development, implementation, and optimization.
• Architect assembly processes, jigs, and fixtures for precise alignment of design-critical components.
• Ensure processes achieve high yield, quality, reliability, efficiency, and cost performance in mass production while mentoring other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience developing manufacturing processes for high-volume mechanical assemblies.
• Deep experience in DfX analysis and application, especially assembly, manufacturability, serviceability, cosmetic components, and tight tolerances.
• Proficiency in adhesive dispensing and curing, ultrasonic, thermal, and IR welding of thermoplastic parts.
• Experience designing kinematic jigs and fixtures, with knowledge of machine controls, inspection vision systems, and part-handling automation.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams in assembly equipment development, PFMEA application, and process qualification; availability for office-based work and travel within Asia.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CNC drilling and machining, paint application, and ink printing.
• Experience with DOE, GD&T, STA, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling, particularly Siemens NX.
