Senior Linux Systems Engineer (Object Storage)

Location: USA - Remote. Candidates must be US citizens or Green Card holders. The role includes 2–3 business-related trips per year and periodic background and fingerprint checks for government customer requirements.

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants, health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

What you will do

• Design, build, monitor, and maintain multi-cloud distributed infrastructure across on-premise and public cloud environments.
• Lead development and implementation of a custom S3-compatible object storage solution spanning more than 3,000 Linux servers.
• Administer Linux across bare-metal and virtual machines, troubleshoot hardware, and operate critical 24x7 production systems.
• Optimize Linux kernels, file systems, storage subsystems, networking, and observability to meet performance and reliability objectives.
• Automate operational tasks and deploy infrastructure using IaaS and configuration management tools.
• Lead technical projects, coordinate dependencies and timelines, mentor engineers, and develop capacity forecasting and monitoring tools.

Requirements

• US citizenship or a Green Card.
• 7+ years of professional experience with large-scale distributed systems and a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Extensive Linux internals expertise, including virtual memory, process scheduling, storage I/O, and kernel-level performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with on-premise block and object storage, Kubernetes-native technologies, and AWS S3-compatible object storage.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, network security, and high-bandwidth data transfer knowledge for distributed storage environments.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Python or Go scripting, Chef, project tooling, analytics, forecasting, and AI technologies.
