Financial Controller

Location: Hybrid in the UK, with salary based on London; flexible hours.

Salary: £50,000–£90,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes and deliver accurate, timely reporting.
• Prepare management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, variance analysis, and budgeting materials.
• Own statutory reporting and compliance under IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Manage VAT filings, PAYE submissions, annual HMRC returns, and external accountant relationships.
• Maintain and optimise Xero, Dext, Pleo, ApprovalMax, and the wider finance stack.
• Strengthen internal controls and finance processes while supporting audits, R&D tax credit claims, and system integrations.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA certification.
• 4–6 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in Big Four, regional practice, high-growth technology, or digital businesses.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK statutory reporting.
• Proficiency in Xero and familiarity with finance automation tools.
• Experience with VAT, HMRC compliance, consolidations, and multi-currency accounting.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-moving hands-on environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in the creator economy, marketplaces, subscription platforms, or fintech.
• Exposure to R&D tax credits, multi-entity accounting, or multi-currency accounting.
