Assistant Financial Controller (AI)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; onsite role supporting US and Canadian legal entities.

Salary: $81,600–$122,400 annually.

What you will do

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual US GAAP close processes for US and Canadian legal entities.
• Review balance sheet and income statement results, investigate variances, and provide insights to management.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, analytical review packages, and legal entity reporting documentation.
• Strengthen reconciliation processes, financial controls, and accounting practices in collaboration with Accounting Services.
• Support acquisitions, legal entity integrations, system migrations, compliance activities, tax audits, and tax planning initiatives.
• Partner with Tax, Legal, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, and business stakeholders on finance matters and contribute to finance transformation projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, or finance roles, preferably in a technology or global organization.
• Strong understanding of controllership responsibilities, financial reporting processes, and U.S. GAAP requirements.
• Professional accounting designation such as CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent finance credentials.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial results, investigating variances, and supporting business decisions.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
