Business Operations Manager / Associate

Location: Fully remote, available from anywhere in South Africa

Salary: Up to ZAR 550,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Work directly with the Head of Operations to identify operational problems, make decisions, and implement improvements.
• Support people operations, including contracts, onboarding, policies, and day-to-day employment processes.
• Manage finance operations such as invoicing, expenses, payroll inputs, and cash flow tracking.
• Find and eliminate manual, slow, or duplicated work through process improvements, AI-assisted tooling, and automation.
• Monitor SaaS, AI, and cloud spending, identify waste, and negotiate or reduce costs.
• Take ownership of an expanding remit across people, finance, cost management, and tooling.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience, with openness to candidates who can operate at either a more junior or more senior level.
• High agency, strong initiative, reliability, follow-through, and comfort working with ambiguity.
• Ability to read contracts, build spreadsheet models, automate workflows, and negotiate renewals.
• Numerical ability and willingness to work with finance processes; formal finance training is not required.
• Experience in a startup, technology company, small business, product, or fast-growth environment is valuable.
• Must be able to work from South Africa.
