Process Engineer (Energetic Materials)

Location: Fully onsite at the Chandler, Arizona facility, United States. Regular presence in an active manufacturing environment is required, with early starts and occasional extended hours as driven by manufacturing needs. Travel is generally less than 5%.

Salary: $66,900–$124,300 per year.

What you will do

• Lead and support Process Safety Management activities, including PHAs, MOCs, PSSRs, audits, technical documentation, and corrective actions.
• Maintain and improve energetic material processes to increase safety, productivity, quality, reliability, and material performance.
• Support production operations, material qualification, nonconforming material disposition, product testing, and cross-functional issue resolution.
• Develop toward independent technical ownership of assigned process lines and equipment while working directly with production operators.
• Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, operating procedures, process specifications, engineering reports, and process-safety documentation.
• Support new equipment implementation, process changes, qualification, scale-up, ramp-up, and conversion of laboratory synthesis to full-scale manufacturing.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. Person status is required for export-control purposes; ongoing employment depends on required government export authorizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred; Chemistry or a closely related engineering or scientific discipline may be considered.
• Three or more years of relevant engineering experience preferred, with experience in process manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, aerospace, defense, energetics, explosives, or another highly regulated environment.
• Knowledge of organic and inorganic synthesis, oxidation-reduction reactions, chemical-process principles, and Process Safety Management.
• Experience with PHA, MOC, PSSR, PSM audits, FMEA, failure analysis, root-cause analysis, statistical process control, and corrective-action implementation.
• Comfort working hands-on on the production floor with process equipment, energetic materials, primary explosives, and hazardous chemical processes.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with Minitab, JMP, Lean, or Six Sigma.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visio, or Project.
