TL;DR
Principal Engineer - Process (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Developing and sustaining manufacturing processes for Chip Scale Atomic Clocks with an accent on materials analysis, process optimization, automated assembly, and semiconductor component manufacturing. Focus on improving yield and throughput, performing failure analysis, implementing structured corrective actions, and supporting next-generation product design.

Location: Beverly, Massachusetts, United States. The role requires eligibility under U.S. export controls: candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual status.

Annual base salary: $75,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for assembly, solder reflow, sealing, wafer bonding, wafer dicing, evaporation, and sputtering.
  • Collect and analyze process data to identify trends and improve processes in the physics package product line.
  • Modify equipment and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and production yields.
  • Support production teams through technical guidance and training, including automated semiconductor component assembly.
  • Coordinate procurement of wafers, VCSELs, photodiodes, solder preforms, thermistors, and LCCs with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Support next-generation Chip Scale Atomic Clock development, DFM activities, ERP utilization, and structured failure analysis.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience with a BS degree, or 5 years with an MS degree.
  • Experience with complex new product introduction, manufacturing, hardware BOMs, process documentation, assembly, and test processes.
  • Ability to analyze opportunities, solve problems proactively, manage multiple projects, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Competence in electrical, mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, or related engineering principles.
  • Experience working internationally across multiple time zones and cultures, with willingness to travel up to 10% domestically or internationally.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SPC, ANOVA, 8D, Gage R&R, DOE, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Six Sigma, 6S, and Lean Value Stream methods.
  • Experience with PLM and ERP software.
  • MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
