Workers Comp CA Senior Claims Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Fully remote from the USA; listed location is Nebraska, USA. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $95,000–$105,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage a large inventory of highly complex workers' compensation and property and casualty claims.
• Lead investigations to determine coverage, liability, compensability, and damages.
• Analyze and negotiate claim settlements and reserves within assigned authority.
• Participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and trials when required.
• Communicate complex coverage and settlement information to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Authorize payments and maintain accurate claim files, correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 13 years of property and casualty claims-handling experience.
• California workers' compensation experience is preferred.
• Expert knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, claims procedures, and applicable industry laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads, handle confidential information discreetly, and operate as a subject-matter expert.

Nice to have

• Completed or ongoing professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC).
• Experience coaching staff or participating in talent selection and performance management.
