Design Engineer (React)

Location: Full-time, in-office position at hirify.global’ headquarters in Downtown Manhattan, New York, United States

Salary: $121,000–$161,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity awards, and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Bridge design and engineering by implementing, refining, and optimizing interactions, details, and animations for web and other digital products.
• Partner with designers to translate ambitious concepts into code and provide technical and creative feedback throughout the design process.
• Build interactive prototypes with code to validate ideas, resolve product questions, and accelerate decisions.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver performant frontend features that balance design fidelity, ambition, and scalability.
• Develop reusable interaction patterns, motion systems, and frontend components.
• Advocate for best practices in interaction design, animation, accessibility, performance, and emerging digital technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Frontend Engineer, Creative Developer, Design Technologist, or similar.
• Advanced knowledge of CSS, including animations, responsive design, rendering performance, browser capabilities, and modern best practices.
• Experience creating sophisticated UI animations and interactive experiences with GSAP or a comparable animation library.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to prototype and communicate ideas through code and collaborate closely with designers and engineers.
• A portfolio of shipped products and interactive prototypes demonstrating strong craft, attention to detail, and innovative thinking is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with three.js, Blender, Cinema 4D, WebGL, shaders, or other advanced graphics technologies.
• Experience optimizing highly interactive content across devices and platforms.
• Professional experience creating motion graphics and animation.
• Passion for video games, film, and entertainment.
