Design Systems Engineer (React)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, CA; Boston, MA; or New York, NY

Annual salary: $170,000–$195,000

What you will do

• Build and own LangChain’s component library with reusable, composable, accessible React components.
• Partner with designers to translate design systems, tokens, and interaction patterns into production code.
• Develop tooling and workflows for theming, tokens, versioning, testing, and component discovery using tools such as Storybook.
• Make architectural decisions that improve accessibility, performance, consistency, and maintainability across the UI stack.
• Optimize build performance, bundling strategy, and package versioning for the component library.
• Maintain UI testing and dependency-management tooling.

Requirements

• Strong experience building modular, composable, and well-documented component libraries or design systems.
• Deep knowledge of React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with CSS Modules, CSS-in-JS, Tailwind, Sass, Storybook, Chromatic, and design-token pipelines.
• Experience collaborating closely with designers and other non-engineering partners.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accessibility and inclusive design.
• Familiarity with UI component testing and visual regression testing.
