Senior Electric Motor Engineer (Aerospace)

POWERTECH is a propulsion technology center focused on the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, turbojet engines, turbofan engines, and electric propulsion technologies for aerospace, defense, and autonomous applications.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of electric motors for e-propulsion, hybrid systems, auxiliary power units, and actuation systems.
• Define motor architectures addressing power density, efficiency, thermal limits, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
• Develop electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical designs covering winding topology, materials, cooling, and insulation systems.
• Conduct advanced electromagnetic, thermal, and structural simulations using ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, Motor-CAD, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Support motor-inverter-control integration, prototype builds, qualification testing, validation, production ramp-up, and in-service improvements.
• Analyze test results, lead root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and act as a technical authority in design reviews and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing electric motors for aerospace, defense, or automotive propulsion systems.
• Experience with electromagnetic, thermal, and structural simulation tools.
• Knowledge of power electronics, controls, systems integration, testing, and design for manufacturability.
• Ability to support certification and compliance activities involving DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD, ISO 26262, and IEC/ISO standards.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, customers, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders, as well as mentoring junior engineers.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electric Machines, Power Engineering, or Propulsion Systems.
